LAHORE (Staff Report) – Christian swimmer Lianna Catherine Swan won the first gold medal for Pakistan in women’s 200 meter breaststroke at the 12th South Asian Games held in Gawhati, India.
Swan completed the competition in 2:48.85. Hasanthi Nugawela (2:49.17) of Sri Lanka came second while Romana Akter (2:49.60) of Bangladesh finished third.
This is Pakistan’s first gold medal in the South Asian Games 2016.
Pakistan also won a bronze in 4x100m freestyle quartet in the female relay while India won gold and Sri Lanka bagged a silver.
She had participated in 2010 Asian Games, 2011 FINA World Cup in Dubai and 2013 FINA World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona.
