ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry Tuesday said that talks between Afghan government and Taliban are expected by the end of this month.
Briefing Senate’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs in Islamabad, he said Pakistan wants Afghan reconciliation process to move forward as soon as possible.
Telling the committee about details of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visits to Saudi Arabia and Iran, Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry said the Islamic world has appreciated Pakistan’s effort to reduce tension between the two countries.
Responding to a query about Saudi Arabia led 34-country alliance, he said that all of the members countries have welcomed the initiative however the role of countries yet remains to be defined.
