ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has asked the concerned to take necessary measures to avoid loss of life and damage to property in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Azad Kashmir due to likely flash floods.
The NDMA has directed rescue and relief agencies to remain ready to respond at a short notice, issue early warning to people in vulnerable areas, ensure monitoring of water ways thorough SMS and all possible ways and deploy required staff, place relief, rescue stocks in most vulnerable areas at union council level.
NDMA said Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had predicted the decaying phase of prevailing EI-Nino was indicating some strong signals regarding extra ordinary rains in South Asia including Pakistan during the current month.
The weather system is likely to grip most parts of south-western & north Punjab, Kashmir on Friday evening / night.
Widespread rains expected in Islamabad, Punjab (with isolated heavy falls in DG Khan, Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala Divisions) and Kashmir on Saturday and Sunday.
