Peshawar Zalmi players to visit Afghanistan on Ashraf Ghani s invitation

ISLAMABAD – Peshawar Zalmi players who recently made it to clinch the title of PSL season 2 champions would be visiting Afghanistan at the invitation of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.

Zalmi owner Javed Afridi while confirming the rare visit detailed that the players would head to Kabul in May. He claimed that four foreign players would also be accompanying Zalmi in Kabul visit.

Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Hekmat Karzai made a telephone call to Javed Afridi and felicitated him on the victory and on behalf of the president, invited the team to visit Afghanistan.

Peshawar Zalmi overpowered Quetta Gladiators on Sunday by 58 runs to become champions of the Pakistan Super League second edition.

The victory was celebrated on other side of the border as well and social media buffs based in Afghanistan posted pictures showing their joy over the win.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak announced a reward of Rs20 million for Peshawar Zalmi besides inviting them to Peshawar for a grand reception.
