Woman injured as India resorts to unprovoked firing along LoC

SIALKOT – Indian forces on Wednesday resorted to unprovoked firing along Line of Control, leaving one Pakistani woman injured in violation of cease-fire agreement, the Inter-Services Public Relations reported.

As per a statement issued by army’s media wing, the attack on Wednesday night targetted the civilian population in in Baroh area of Bhimber sector.

“Pakistani troops effectively responded to Indian firing,” added the ISPR statement.

Reports of Pakistani and Indian forces engaging in tension along the Line of Control are very common.  International bodies continue to push both countries to resolve their long-standing issues through dialogue but the issue still needs to be solved.

Tensions between two nuclear-armed neighbours frayed in the aftermath of Uri attack on a check post in Kashmir that left 18 people dead. India pointed fingers at Pakistan for the attack but Pakistan refuted the allegations. What added fuel to the fire was Indian aggression on Line of Control and claims of conducting a surgical strike inside Pakistan.
