Iran test-fires torpedo near the Strait of Hormuz

TEHRAN – Iran test-fired a high-speed torpedo near the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, international media reported.

The Hoot torpedo, which has a range of six miles at a speed of about 200 knots per hour, was fired in the Strait of Hormuz, where a big part of the world’s oil passes each day.

It is not clear yet that the test of torpedo was successful or not.

According to Fox news, the test was carried out within the limits of  Iranian territorial waters and did not violate any international protocols.

It is important to mention here that Iran has not tried to test this torpedo. The last time it made a test in February 2015.
