Ch Nisar rules out Army s role behind Nawaz s ouster

ISLAMABAD – Former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan ruled out the role of Pakistan Army behind the disqualification of former premier Nawaz Sharif in the Panama Papers case.

In an interview to Geo News, the senior member of ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz said PMLN has not had any confrontation with army, nor does the army have anything to do with Nawaz Sharif’s ouster.

“Confrontation with the army and the Supreme Court was a wrong move that would weaken ‘our position’ instead of strengthening it” Ch Nisar declared.

The former cabinet member maintained that a few party members advised confronting institutions but declared that no political goals could be achieved through confrontation.

The statement came a day after Nisar, a blunt representative of embattled PML-N termed the comparison between slain PPP leader Benazir Bhutto and Maryam Nawaz wrong.

“The role of Maryam Nawaz is that she is the daughter of Nawaz Sharif,” he added.
