COLOMBO (Web Desk)- Newly elected Sir Lankan president Maithripala Sersena has taken over the office after he took oath in the presence of political figures in president house.
Addressing on the occasion Maithripala announced to unite the war torn nation for a steady journey toward development. New cabinet will comprise of members from all the political parties, he explained.
“Urgent political and economic reforms will be introduced in the country in first 100 days of the rule”, he quoted.
Earlier on Wednesday historic presidential polls of the country were conducted nationwide that resulted in the unexpected defeat of former President Raja Paksay . Maithripall , backed by the divided opposition parties, managed to bag 51.2 % votes against his opponent’s 47.5%.
