Man gets 6 years in jail for harassing, blackmailing air force officer’s wife online

LAHORE – A magistrate on Friday awarded six-year imprisonment to a man for harassing and blackmailing the wife of a Pakistan Air Force officer online.

According to Dawn News, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Special Magistrate Imtiaz Ali Bajwa also imposed of fine of Rs700,000 on Usman Bin Masood and ordered him to pay Rs1 million in compensation to the victim, lives in Ahmadpur Sharqua, area near Bahawalpur.

Masood was awarded punishment for doctoring photos of the victim and blackmailing her through social media.

The convict has been rounded up in 2017 under Sections 20 (offences against dignity), 21 (offences against modesty) and 24 (cyber stalking) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016.

The wife of the air force officer lodged a complaint against Masood after the suspect threatened her to share manipulated pictures on Facebook. Subsequently, a case was registered against him.
