ISLAMABAD – Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar summoned on the chief executive officers (CEO) of all airlines of the country in a suo motu case pertaining to pilots fake degrees.
During the hearing, the top judge was informed one of the airlines was owned by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, to which, CJP Nisar remarked that the court can summon him as CEO of the company not as the prime minister. All heads of the airlines have been directed to appear in persons at SC’s Karachi Registry on May 12.
Showing anger over not submitting details about the employees, the apex court observed that the CEO should explain the failure at the next hearing.
A Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Shaheen Airlines have submitted the required data to the court. He added that four airlines were operating in the country.
The CAA director added that the court had ordered to verify the data of 1,972 employees of PIA, whereas up till now the data of 225 staffers has been received of which 108’s degrees have been verified.
Moreover, the court was informed that degrees of 24 pilots were discovered as fake.
