KARACHI – The Sindh government on Saturday imposed a ban on the use of plastic bags in the province, a spokesperson of the chief minister confirmed today.
Earlier, an official of the Environmental Protection Agency Sindh informed the cabinet during a meeting that the manufacture and use of polythene bags is a crime.
On this, the cabinet approved the Sindh EPA’s request to impose a province-wide ban on manufacturing, sale, and purchase of non-biodegradable polythene bags.
For the next three months, there will be a ban on the use of plastic bags in different districts of the province, the spokesperson added.
