LAHORE – The Lahore High Court issued bailable arrest warrants of former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in a case regarding the leakage of sensitive information on Monday.
Besides Abbasi, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Dawn reporter Cyril Almeida have also been issued notices by the august court.
A full bench of the Lahore High Court had issued notices to Abbasi and his predecessor Nawaz Sharif on June 26.
In a petition, an action was sought against Sharif for trying to defame state institutions while Abbasi was accused of disclosing minutes of the National Security Council’s meeting to Nawaz Sharif.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is set to contest by-elections for NA-124 seat falling in Lahore, on October 14th.
