MUMBAI (Online) – The mouth-watering Pakistan versus India match in the 2016 World Twenty20 will be played on March 19 in Dharamsala stadium as revealed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) during a ceremony in Mumbai on Friday.
The full schedule of the tournament was unveiled during the ceremony which pitted Pakistan, India, Australia and New Zealand in Group 2. Meanwhile, Group 1 constitutes of Sri Lanka, South Africa, West Indies and England.
The tournament’s Super 10 stage will be played after the qualifiers take place. Two groups (A and B) of four teams each will play it out against each other and the best team of each group will make it into the Super 10 round.
Winner of Qualifying Group B will enter into Group 1, while winner of Qualifying Group A will enter Group 2 in the Super 10 stage.
A total of 58 tournament matches, including 35 men’s matches and 23 women’s matches, will be played in the 27-day tournament in Bengaluru, Chennai, Dharamsala, Kolkata, Mohali, Mumbai, Nagpur and New Delhi.
Pakistan, led by Shahid Afridi, will play its first match on March 16 against the team that qualifies from Group A.
Next they will take on India on March 19. A clash against New Zealand and Australia is scheduled for March 22 and 25, respectively.
