Meet Helena Saeed – Pakistan’s first woman Additional IGP

QUETTA – Helena Saeed has registered her name in the history books after becoming the country’s first ever female Assistant Inspector General of Police.

Belonging to the minority Christian community, Helena who hails from Quetta is the first individual to have been promoted to the rank of AIG (BPS-21) from the southwestern Balochistan province.

She is now the highest-ever ranking female officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP).

Last month, another senior female cop made headlines for leading a security operation to foil the terrorist attack on the Chinese consulate in Karachi while successfully engaging the suspects on the site.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Suhai Aziz Talpur was among the first to rush to the Chinese consulate upon reports of gunshots and blasts heard outside the building on Nov. 23, 2018.

While the first woman ASP from lower Sindh earned praise for her bravery from the provincial police chief and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, she also received a number of proposals from China.
