KARACHI – Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa promoted a young officer during his visit to Thar Coal project on Wednesday.
Second Lieutenant Asad, who was present at briefing point for the security of the venue, was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in a unique way.
General Bajwa promoted the officer and asked him to bring the rank of Lieutenant. As the officer was not in possession of ranks, so the army chief asked him to give a pen. Then COAS Bajwa himself drew the ranks of Lieutenant on Asad’s uniform.

Talking on the occasion, the top military commander said that the internal security situation of Pakistan has largely improved paving way for foreign investment. “We will continue to play our part in ensuring a secure environment for business and entrepreneurship in Pakistan by both local and foreign investors,” he added.
Lt Gen (r) Tariq Khan, the managing director of Fauji Fertilizer Company, received the COAS upon his arrival.
Earlier in the day, Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Army Air Defence Centre Karachi where he appointed Lt Gen Hamooduz Zaman Khan as Colonel Commandant of Army Air Defence Corps.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa also visited forward troops in Gadra Sector Sindh and commended operational preparedness and high state of morale of the troops.
According to a communique issued by military’s media wing, COAS said that Pakistan Army was fully committed to guarding the frontiers of the country.
