NAB chief directs subordinates to effectively pursue 1,200 under trial corruption references
ISLAMABAD – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Tuesday directed the officials to effectively pursue 1,200 under trial corruption references so that the corrupt could be taken to task.

"Today NAB's conviction ratio is about 77 percent which is one of the highest conviction ratios as compared to other investigation agencies," said Justice Javed while chairing a meeting to review the performance of NAB at its headquarters.

The chairman said NAB was committed to rooting out corruption in all its forms and manifestation by using all its resources with absolute professionalism, transparency, merit and as per law across the board.

The deputy chairman of NAB, Prosecutor General Accountability (PGA) and other senior officers of NAB attended the meeting.

The chairman said NAB's anti-corruption strategy has been yielding excellent results.

He said the main focus of NAB was on cases of cheating public at large by fraudulent financial companies, housing, and cooperative companies, bank frauds, willful bank loan defaults, misuse of authority and embezzlement of state funds by government servants and corruption by private persons etc.

It was informed that Enforcement Policy of NAB and initiatives taken by present management under the leadership of Justice Javed Iqbal have started yielding excellent results.

Chairman NAB directed Operations Division to complete all complaint verifications, inquiries, and investigations by ensuring merit, transparency.

No laxity in this regard would be tolerated, he insisted.

Statistically, NAB chief has directed NAB Lahore to complete 155 inquiries and 49 investigations, Karachi to complete 160 inquiries and 123 investigations, NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to complete 79 inquiries and 25 investigations, NAB Balochistan to complete 80 inquiries and  24 investigations, Rawalpindi to complete 102 inquiries and 43 investigations.

NAB Multan has been ordered to complete 20 inquiries and 10 investigations, while NAB Sukkur to complete 96 inquiries and 18 investigations on basis of solid evidence within the prescribed timeframe as per law.

NAB arrests three over forgery


The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has arrested three persons over their alleged involvement in forging documents and cheating the public at large.

According to a NAB spokesman, during the course of an inquiry against three persons -- Muhammad Gulzar, Imran Maqsood and Malik Amjad Sadheer, sufficient evidence was collected.

The evidence showed that the accused, in connivance with each other, obtained illegal monitory benefits through fraudulent activities including the use of fake NAB letters and no-objection certificates (NOCs).

The accused have been arrested on the orders of NAB Director General Lahore. The inquiry proceedings showed that the accused gained pecuniary advantages by preparing false, forged and fabricated documents and agreements in respect of various plots of DHA Lahore and other private housing societies.

The physical remand of the accused had been obtained till June 25, 2018, by producing them before an accountability court.

On Wednesday, the dollar was being quoted at 285.6 for selling and 288.65 for buying purposes.

Euro price stands at 312 for buying and 315 for selling. British Pound rate stands at 360 for buying, and 363 for selling.

UAE Dirham AED stands at 78.25 whereas the Saudi Riyal also witnessed fall and new price stands at 76.25.

Gold rates see big increase in Pakistan; Check today gold price here

KARACHI – The gold price moved up down in the local market in line with massive increase in international market.

Gold Rates in Pakistan Today - 29 November 2023

On Wednesday, the single tola of 24 Karat gold was available at Rs218,000, and the price for 10-gram gold saw an increase of Rs943 to reach Rs186,900.

Meanwhile, the 22 Karat Gold price stands at Rs199,830, 21 karat rate for each tola is Rs190,750 and 18k gold rate hoveres around Rs163,500.00.

In international market, the price of precious metal went up by $29 to settle at $2,044 per ounce.
