Chinese Film Festival to start from Friday at PNCA

ISLAMABAD (APP) – Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) will organize a three-day Chinese Film Festival in collaboration with Embassy of China starting from Friday to celebrate the anniversary of Pak-China Friendship.

“Citizens will have a chance to learn more about the culture and film industry of China,” an official of PNCA told APP.

He said that the festival was the part of ongoing efforts to promote the bilateral relationship between the people of both countries who share a common cultural heritage and history.

During the festival, various Chinese films will be screened according. Famous personalities of Pakistani film industry have also been extended invitations for the event.

Cinema was introduced in China in 1896 and the first Chinese film, The Battle of Dingjunshan, was made in 1905, with the film industry centered in Shanghai in the first decades. The first Chines film with audio, Sing-Song Girl Red Peony, using the sound-on-disc technology, was made in the 1930’s, a decade considered as the first “golden period” of Chinese cinema.
