Sridevi posthumously wins Best Actress for role in Mom

NEW DELHI: Sridevi Kapoor, the late veteran Bollywood actress has been posthumously named the Best Actress for her role in the Hindi film, Mom today at the 65th National Film Awards.

The actress who passed away back in February, played the role of a vengeful mother set to avenge her step-daughter in a movie directed by Ravi Udyawar.

Sajal Ali played the role of the daughter while Adnan Siddiqui was cast as Sridevi’s onscreen husband.

In an interview with The Quint, Boney Kapoor said, “I’m too overwhelmed. I wish she was here. It’s her first, so many things come to mind, I wish she was here.”

In earlier interviews, the late actress was reported to have said, “People reacted very well and I felt good about it.”
