COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa to initiate plantation of two million trees as army joins forestation drive

RAWALPINDI – Chief of  Army Staff, General Qamar Jawed Bajwa will initiate simultaneous plantation of two million trees in a bid to highlight the importance of environmental protection.

The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major General Asif Ghafoor expressed on Monday that Pakistan Army has now joined National Tree Plantation Campaign for which 10 million trees would be planted during this monsoon.

“Campaign is named ‘Sarsabz o Shadab Pakistan,” he added.

A couple of groups in the country are raising awareness about the importance of greenery and the positive effect of plantation on the environment, with Pak Army becoming the latest to convince the public.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, which is expected to form the government at the federal level, will also plant billions of trees to tackle the menace of climate change.

The PTI previously launched a massive tree-planting project in Khyber Pukhtunkwa which was hailed by international groups.
