New lawmakers of Balochistan Assembly take oath

QUETTA – The inaugural sessions of the new Balochistan Assembly was convened on Monday, where MPAs-elect took oath of their offices.

The session started with recitation of Quran verses after which Speaker Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani administered oath to the new members of the provincial assembly.

In the province, newly-emerged party, Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), is set to form government with the coalition of the Pakistan Tehree-e-Insaf (PTI).

BAP won 15 provincial seats in Balochistan during general election sand since then, 4 independent candidates have joined them, bringing their seat count in the province to 19. The count went up to 24 after the PTI, which bagged fives provincial seats, announced support for BAP.

The newly elected members of the Sindh Assembly also took the oath of their office on Monday. Former Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani administered the oath to the lawmakers-elect in Urdu and English language.

The inaugural session of the newly elected Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly was also held today where MPA-elects took oath of their offices.

Sardar Aurangzeb administered the oath to the elected members as former Speaker Asad Qaiser took oath as a member of the National Assembly today and could not perform the duty.

Earlier today, the landmark session of the National Assembly was also held today where 331 lawmakers took oath which was administered by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq.

The NA session has been adjourned till August 15 when Speaker and deputy speaker will be elected. The election for the prime minister will be held on Aug 18.
