LAHORE – As many as seven people have been killed in fog-related accidents across Punjab due to poor visibility here on Tuesday.
Three people were killed when a motorcycle rammed into a donkey cart in Burewala while two others lost their lives in another accident in Gujranwala’s Ratta Jheel area. The deceased Shaukat and Umair were residents of Talwandi Moosa Khan.
Two motorcyclists also lost their life due to dense fog at Sahiwal’s Naiwala Road after they were hit by a dumper truck.
Several cities in the Punjab province have been suffering from zero or limited visibility, while the motorway was temporarily closed at Lahore, Sheikhupura, Pindi Bhattian, Faisalabad and Gojra.
Fog has also disrupted daily life in Pattoki, Okara, Sahiwal, Toba Tek Singh and Mian Channu.
Many flights were delayed after flight operations were suspended in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot and Multan.
Motorway police has advised citizens not to venture out of their homes unless absolutely necessary, and to drive slowly and use fog lights.
Dense foggy conditions are likely to prevail over plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and upper Sindh over the night and morning hours during the next 12 hours, according to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
