LAHORE – Funeral prayers for Pakistan’s prominent human rights lawyer Asma Jahangir’s were offered in Lahore on Tuesday.
Jamat e Islami (JI) founder Abul A’la Maududi’s son, Syed Haider Farooq Maududi, led the funeral prayers of the deceased activist at LCC Ground near Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani, PCB Cheif Najam Sethi, Former foreign minister Khursheed Kasuri, Ali Kurd, Khalilur Rehman Ramday and other dignitaries attended her funeral prayers.
He will be laid to rest at her farmhouse located at Bedian Road Lahore.
Jahangir, 66, the first woman to become president of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan and cofounder of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, took her last breath on Sunday after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Earlier today, Asma’s body was shifted to her house in Gulberg from the hospital where it was placed in a morgue.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani, PML-N Senator Pervaiz Rashir and other noted lawyers and dignitaries have called for a state funeral in remembrance of her services.

Condolence
Condolences poured in over the demise of the prominent lawyers. People also hailed her services for democracy, judiciary and minorities.
Prime Minister Abbasi expressed sadness over her death and praised her role to upholding the rule of law and protecting human rights.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar visited the residence of late Asma Jahangir to condole her demise with the bereaved family.
PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz also visited her residence to condole with the family.
