ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Raja Salman Aziz, an al Qaeda militant wanted in various terrorist activities, has been killed in a recent missile strike in North Waziristan, security officials have confirmed.
Salman Aziz, a resident of Islamabad, was involved in several high-profile cases, including 2011 murder of former minister Shahbaz Bhatti and twin suicide blasts in Rawalpindi’s Parade Lane and Melody Market in 2009, a Pakistani TV channel Samaa reported on Tuesday.
Sources also revealed the militant’s mother is a local office-bearer of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Salman Aziz’s name surfaced during the investigation of Parade Lane attack. He, however, managed to escape to Waziristan before a raid of security agencies.
Officials now believe the terrorist has been killed in a missile strike carried out late on 10 April. However, his accomplices took away the dead body with them, officials added.
