MQM-P moves ECP to de-seat defected lawmakers, Deputy Mayor Vohra

KARACHI – Dr Farooq Sattar, head of the the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) on Thursday approached the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to de-seat 11 former members of the party, including 10 lawmakers and Karachi’s deputy mayor.

Sattar has filed references against 10 national and provincial legislators, and Karachi’s Deputy Mayor Arshad Vohra after they quit the party changing their loyalties. Vohra has recently joined Pak Sarzmeen Party (PSP).

The lawmakers include Asif Hasnain, Salman Mujahid Baloch, Irum Azeem Farooqi, Sheikh Abudllah, Khalid bin Wilayat, Abdul Razzaq, Irtaza Khalil, Nadeem Raazi, Arif Maseeh and Bilquis Mukhtiyar.

The MQM-P leader has asked the ECP to de-notify them as they had won the seats on the tickets of the party, but now they have joined other parties.

The ECP has also summoned response from Vohra and adjourned the case till December 26.
