LAHORE – Reacting to Punjab Higher Eductaion Minister Raza Ali Gillani’ s remarks regarding hijab in colleges, Government of the Punjab on Tuesday clarified that no such policy has been announced.
The government took to Twitter stating, “5% marks for Hijab students is absolutely WRONG news… Academic excellence only based on MERIT.. It’s clear policy of the Govt of Punjab.”

The government termed the news items circulating in the the media as “absolutely wrong news”.

Earlier, Punjab Higher Education Minister Syed Raza Ali Gillani announced a new policy to promote hijab culture among students of all government colleges in Punjab.
Gillani further said that additional five marks will be awarded to students at the time of admission for wearing the hijab after the policy was implemented.
