LAHORE – Funeral prayers for Pakistan People’s Party leader Jahangir Badar were offered on Monday in Lahore.
The funeral rites were held at Punjab University Law College ground and attended by senior PPP leadership and other politicians.
Former prime minister Yusuf Raza Gillani, CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah and Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq also attended the prayers.
Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto announced three days of mourning after the party leader’s death.
The veteran politician passed away at 72 in Lahore late Sunday night.
The former senator was rushed to a private hospital after he suffered a heart attack. Ali Badar, son of Jahangir Badar said his father was placed in the ICU, where the doctors made their best efforts to save his life but he could not recover and died late on Sunday night.
Jahangir was a senior PPPP leader. He was a passionate supporter of the party and fought relentlessly against the military dictators with resilience. He was a close aide of slain PPP leader Benazir Bhutto. Condolence messages poured in in a large number as the news of his death made airwaves across the country.
