SRINAGAR (Staff Report) – Amid heavy security and curfew Jammu and Kashmir has come to a stand still, as Kashmiris observe Black Day on the Indian Independence Day.
Black Day is being observed on the call of Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik and Shabbir Ahmed Shah.
Hurriyet leaders said in a joint statement, “India had no moral or constitutional justification to celebrate its Independence Day in the disputed territory forcibly occupied by it.”
Asian News International has reported that Jammu and the Valley have been completely shut down. Strict security arrangements have been made within and outside Srinagar’s Bakhshi Stadium where the parade will take place.
All the roads around the Bakshi Stadium have reportedly been sealed for traffic and pedestrian movement. Sharp shooters have also been deployed.
