Five-day anti-polio drive starts in Balochistan, KPK, FATA and Karachi

PESHAWAR (Staff Report) – A five-day anti-polio drive Monday started in 15 districts of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Karachi amidst strict security.

According to coordinator Polio Emergency operation Centre Balochistan Dr. Saif-ur-Rehman, about 1.6 million children below the age of five years will be administered anti-polio vaccine during the three days drive.

The districts where campaign is being carried out are Quetta, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Loralai, Khuzdar, Zhob, Sherani, Lasbella, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Nasirabad, Jaffarabad, Jhal Magsi and Dera Bugti.

Thirteen districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where children will be vaccinated are Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mardan, Swat, Torghar, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan.

Anti-polio campaign in most affected agencies including Khyber, North and South Waziristan will continue for five days while in other agencies for four days.
