Pakistan condemns Kashmiri Journalist s targeted killing

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has strongly condemned the killing of renowend Kashmiri journalist, Shujaat Bukhari, and his guard in Indian-Occupied Kashmir on Thursday.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal on Twitter said, “Our heartfelt condolences and prayers are for their families. Violence must end; Perpetrators should be brought to justice”.

He further said that the journalist’s “targeted killing within hours of his tweet on the OHCHR report on Jammu & Kashmir – terrible coincidence, raises serious questions – India should investigate and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice”.

The editor-in-chief of Rising Kashmir was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Srinagar’s Press Colony by unknown assailants.

The assailants opened fire on Bukhari’s vehicle on Thursday evening. He was reportedly hit by multiple bullets fired from a close range. A security guard protecting him and his driver were also shot.

He and others were immediately rushed to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital, where the journalist succumbed to his injuries. His security guard died in the hospital, while another is in critical condition.

Following the incident, the Srinagar police have release CCTV photos of three suspects, asking the people to identify them.
