Dawn story a breach of national security - Corps Commanders give a strong statement on high-level meeting leaks
RAWALPINDI - Chief of army staff General Raheel Sharif on Friday chaired a corps commanders meeting at the general headquarters at Rawalpindi, expressing "serious concern over the feeding of false and fabricated story of an important security meeting held at PM house".

The press statement described the "leak" as a "breach of national security" after the proceedings of the meeting were reported by Dawn, 'revealing' about the "confrontation" between Pakistan's civilian and Army leaderships over militant groups.

The statement implied that since the "feeding of false report" occurred from a top-level closed-door meeting chaired by PM Nawaz Sharif himself, someone from within the government was responsible for the leak.

The meeting was attended by all corps commanders and principal staff officers and Pakistan's top military brass held a comprehensive review of internal and external security situation with particular focus on prevailing environment at Line of Control (LOC) and operational preparedness of the army.

Rejecting the absurd Indian claims of hoax surgical strikes as an attempt to divert world’s attention, away from brutalities being committed by Indian Army against innocent Kashmiris, the forum resolved that any attempt of misadventures and irresponsible act will be met with the most befitting response.

Recounting the successes of Operation Zarb e Azb so far and resultant stability being achieved to propel Pakistan in to a new phase of development and prosperity, the COAS re-emphasized the need for sustained efforts on internal security to defeat all hostile attempts to reverse our gains.

The participants resolved to continue sustained and focused combing and intelligence based operations across the length and breadth of the country to uproot terrorism harmonizing it with implementation of NAP to address extremism and other causes of terrorism.
