ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – The International Day of Democracy is being observed on Tuesday (Sep. 15).
Theme of this year is “Space for Civil Society”.
In his message on International Day of Democracy, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said democracy is identity and destination of the nation.
He said a democratic Pakistan is a guarantee to the national security.
Meanwhile, in his message on the occasion, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said civil society acts as a catalyst for social progress and economic growth.
He said it plays a critical role in keeping Government accountable and helps represent the diverse interests of the population, including its most vulnerable groups.
