PM briefed about action against terrorists

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited Corps headquarters on Monday and held meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif.

DG ISI and Corps Commander were also present on the occasion. The Prime Minister was given briefing on implementation of National Action Plan to eliminate terrorism from the country.

The Prime Minister was apprised about action taken in the wake of operation Zarb-e-Azb. The Prime Minister appreciated intelligence based action in Sindh.

As per reports, the PM will chair meeting of Sindh Apex Committee to review the implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) aimed at eradication militancy and terrorism.

Sources said the PM would also be briefed over hitherto progress in case of 2012 Baldia factory fire that claimed over 260 lives.

A report prepared and submitted in court by a Joint investigation Team (JIT) blames Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for the incident; however, the party denies its involvement.

Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Governor Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad, IG Police Sindh, Rangers chief and heads of intelligence agencies will attend today’s meeting where the PM will also be briefed over law-and-order in Karachi.

Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif also arrived in Karachi on his brief visit. He visited Sindh Rangers headquarters where the army chief was briefed over Rangers ongoing crackdown against criminals.

At the briefing, sources said, General Sharif appreciated the performance of the paramilitary troops and expressed resolved that armed forces could go to any limit stop terrorist elements.
