DUBAI (Web Desk) – Some excellent fire works by Mohammad Nabi in the last part Quetta Gladiators innings has dashed Lahore Qlandars’ hopes to qualify for play-off round of Pakistan Super League.
Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfraz Ahmed invited Lahore Qalandars to bat first.
He has always been availing this tactic so far, but, this time it was different story for Qalandars as opening batsmen Chris Gayle (60) and Azhar Ali (61) both smashed Gladiators bowlers all over the ground and set the tone for upcoming batmen.
Umar Akmal (55)and Dwayne Bravo (20) took reigns of Qalandars innings and started where both openers had left it off, The News Tribe reported.
Umar Akmal completed second quickest fifty of PSL of just 23 balls.
He also holds the quickest (22 ball) fifty record in the league.
Lahore Qalandars set a mammoth total of 201/2 in their 20 overs.
The target looked at one stage a gigantic one, but, Gladiators opener Shehzad and Bismillah were off to flying start, Shehzad left to dug out earlier wwith 4 runs to the bag, but young debutante Busmillah Khan showed his class and plaid a great inning of 55 of just 30 balls along with Pietersen (37), Sangakkara (35) and captain Sarfraz (21).
But, it was Mohammad Nabi (30*) who stood firm and played an innings of his life to sail Gladiators to the victory.
Debutante Bismillah khan was chosen man of The Match award.
