Islamabad to observe local holiday on account of Saudi crown prince visit

ISLAMABAD – A public holiday has been announced in Pakistan’scapital, Islamabad on Monday on account of the visit of Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman.

According to a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner, the local holiday would be within the limits of Islamabad.

However, offices of essential services like the municipal corporation, Capital Development Authority, police, IESCO and other departments would remain open.

In another tweet, the official clarified that the exams for Central Superior Services (CSS) would not be cancelled and they would be conducted as per the schedule.

Information minister Fawad Chaudhry also took to Twitter and announced that all Federal Govt offices situated on the Constitution Avenue except (essential staff of certain ministries) in the capital shall remain closed on Monday.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is due in Pakistan on Sunday for a two-day visit.

Special security arrangements have been put in place to accord a rousing welcome to the royal. The Crown Prince had to land in Pakistan on Saturday, however, the Foreign Office clarified that the visit has been delayed for a day.
