Qandeel Baloch’s murderer arrested, says he killed her for ‘honour’

MULTAN (Web Desk) – Police has arrested Muhammad Waseem, the suspected murderer of social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch late on Saturday.

According to media details, police made the announcement in a press conference where the alleged killer and brother of Qandeel was also presented before the media.

Waseem while responding to questions, said that he had killed his sister Qandeel, whose real name is Fauzia Azeem, for posting controversial pictures and videos on Facebook.

“She was bringing disgrace to our family’s honour and I could not tolerate it any further. I killed her around 11.30pm on Friday night when everyone else had gone to bed.

My brother is not involved in the murder,” said the murderer before being taken away by the police.

Earlier, police had said that Qandeel’s brother had been threatening her to stop posting photos and videos on Facebook.

Regional police officer Azhar Ikram told media that Qandeel was in Multan to visit her parents as her father had been unwell, and spent Eid with her family.

Her brother, who was identified by the police as Waseem, went to meet her at night. When Qandeel was asleep at night, he suffocated her by using a pillow.
