PESHAWAR (Staff Report) – The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has completed work on 37 mini dams under its power enhancement initiative, according to a statement by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan.
As per the announcement, 37 mini dams out of a total of 356 planned dams had been built so far to eradicate load shedding and provide uninterrupted power supply in the province.
The completed projects will produce 2 MW, while the total generation capacity of 356 stations is projected to be 35 Mega Watts.
After securing a landslide victory in KP, PTI chief Imran Khan vowed to build 356 micro dams in the province.
The total estimated cost for these projects is Rs. 5.5 billion. Consumers of the power produced through these dams will be charged at Rs.2 per unit through specialized electricity meters.
