LAHORE (Staff report) – A 40 percent increase at the minimum has been registered in mango production during the current season while fruit worth $7.5 crore will be exported.
According to the Fruit and Vegetable Association of Pakistan, mango production up to at least 16 lac tonnes is expected out of which 1 lac tonnes is slated for exported.
The Association stated that Pakistani mangoes are exported to the UAE, Europe, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Canada, among other countries.
The Association is also trying to land export contracts from Korea, United States (US), China and Australia during the ongoing season.
