LAHORE – The city administration has barred Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf from holding a public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan located in the Greater Iqbal Park, Lahore, on April 29.
A letter sent by Lahore Deputy Commissioner (DC) to the PTI leadership on Monday stated the part is a part of national heritage, adding that the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order has already banned all kinds of political and religious gatherings in order to protect the historic sites.
The party has been advised to stage its public rally at Nasir Bagh, which is open for all kinds of gatherings and processions.
However, the PTI Central Punjab President Abdul Aleem Khan announced to hold the rally at Minar-e-Pakistan whether the government give permission or not for it.
PTI chairman Imran Khan had claimed that his party will hold a historic rally on April 29.
Khan talking to party workers in Marday on Monday said, “PTI will stage the biggest gathering in the history of the country at Minar-e-Pakistan on April 29 to express solidarity with independent judiciary”.
He added that people from all parts of the country will converge at the sit to attend the massive rally.
Earlier, Khan talking to said that ‘jashan’ will be organised at the designated place before the public gathering.
A cultural show will also be held to charge party workers and people of Lahore.
