LONDON – The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK), Raja Farooq Haider arrived in London on Sunday night to lead the mass anti-India protest rally, in a bid to attract the attention of world leaders over atrocities in Kashmir.
The rally is scheduled to take place tomorrow (Wednesday) to ‘shame’ Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in the British capital on Tuesday.
Besides the premier, the leadership of the main political parties of AJK assembled in the UK – on the invitation of the member of House of Lords, Nazir Ahmed – to join the protest at the Parliament Square.
The leader of the opposition in Legislative Assembly Choudhary Muhammad Yasin, former Prime Minister of AJK and PTI AJK Chapter’s President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, ex Ameer Jamaat e Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir Abdul Rasheed Turabi are brainstorming in the UK to attract the maximum participation of the overseas Kashmiris in the rally.
Addressing a news conference in London, Farooq Haider said that the genocide of Kashmiris under Modi government had increased.
“I had reached London especially to show solidarity with the people of Indian occupied Kashmir by confronting Modi on atrocities against Kashmiris under his watch,” Haider said.
Meanwhile, the Sikh Federation (UK) claimed that the community would “turn out in thousands” to protest outside the Queen Elizabeth II Centre against Modi, who it described would be the “primary focus” of the demonstration.
Moreover, Sikh organisations such as Dal Khalsa, Sikhs for Justice and Sikh Federation (UK) have said that it was expecting turnout from across the UK but several other Sikh groups working for Khalistan have also invited their supporters to protest against the Indian premier, Geo News reported.
Top leaders from 53 Commonwealth nations, including Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will attend the Summit in London and Windsor, and the protests.
