LAHORE – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday accepted nomination papers of PTI candidate Dr Yasmin Rashid for contesting by-poll of NA-120.
The returning officer had summoned Kulsoom Nawaz of PML-N and Dr Yasmin Rashid of PTI for completion of scrutiny of submitted nomination papers on August 17, which is also last date for the process.
Talking to media, Dr Rashid said that 25 objections have been submitted over the nomination papers of Kulsoom Nawaz. She said that ECP has been urged to reject the papers of Kulsoom for concealing facts about her job with Captial FZE.
On the other hand, Kulsoom Nawaz is heading towards London without appearing before the RO for scrutiny of papers.
It is notable that candidates of the PPP and the PAT have already submitted their objections to the body against nomination papers of Kulsoom Nawaz.
According to the schedule, the candidate can file appeals against rejection or acceptance of nomination papers by Aug 21, while decision on these appeals would be made by Aug 24.
The candidates can withdraw their papers till Aug 25, while the RO will issue final list of the candidates on Aug 26. Subsequently, polling will be held on September 17.
The constituency fell vacant after the Supreme Court disqualified former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on July 28 for not being honest.
