ISLAMABAD/KABUL – Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has invited Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to visit Kabul to “initiate state to state comprehensive dialogue”.
Ghani extended the invitation during a meeting with visiting Pakistani delegation led by National Security Adviser Nasser Khan Janjua in the Dilkusha Palace in Afghanistan’s capital city.
“Today, I received Pakistani NSA at Dilkusha palace. As a follow up to Kabul process, I have extended an official invitation to Pakistani Prime Minister to visit Afghanistan. This is to initiate state to state comprehensive dialogue,” Ghani tweeted.

According to a statement by the Presidential Palace, the two sides discussed Afghanistan peace proposal to the Taliban and starting a comprehensive dialogue between Kabul and Islamabad, the ArianaNews reported.
They also discussed the importance of connection and regional cooperation, criminal economy and ways to fight against terrorist networks.

The visit of Pakistani delegation comes three weeks after President Ghani made a peace offer to the Taliban and talks with Pakistan during an international conference in Kabul.
Pakistan’s national security adviser is also expected to meet his Afghan counterpart Haneef Atmar and discuss bilateral relations and regional security issues.
A spokesperson of the national security adviser observed that a peaceful Afghanistan is a guarantee to lasting peace at home.
He will also meet Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and the NDS Chief during the one-day visit, for which he was invited by Atmar.
The representatives of the neighbouring countries are expected to formulate a policy to work together and chalk out a way forward to improve bilateral relations and enhance cooperation.
