Erdogan leaves for Turkey after two-day visit to Pakistan

LAHORE – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan departed here on Thursday night for Turkey after a two-day official visit to Pakistan.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, First Lady Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif along with members of the Punjab cabinet and high officials were present at the Allama Iqbal International Airport to bid farewell to the distinguished guest and his delegation.

During his two-day stay, the Turkish President held one-on-one meetings with President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and also addressed the joint session of the Parliament.

President Erdogan has become the first foreign dignitary who addressed the joint session of the Parliament for the third time.

The Prime Minister and Turkish President also addressed a Pakistan-Turkey businessmen roundtable conference.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif hosted a banquet in honour of the Turkish President and his delegation at historic Hazoori Bagh.

First ladies Begum Kulsoom Nawaz and Emine Erdogan also attended the banquet.

A cultural show was also arranged for the Turkish President and his delegation where the guests were entertained with traditional music. — APP
