SHEIKHUPURA – At least six terrorists were killed including the capters of Shahbaz Taseer during an exchange of gunfire with the personnel of Counter-terrorism Department (CTD) in Sheikhupura on Sunday.
“The suspected terrorists were identified as Haji Mohammad, Sajid and Riaz Hussain who were either directly involved or facilitated in the kidnapping of Shahbaz Taseer, son of slain Punjab governor Salman Taseer”, CTD sources said.
On a tip-off, the security officials and the CTD police conducted the raid and killed the suspects on the spot, However, the criminals also ambushed security men.

Two-kilogram explosives, three pistols, three Kalashnikov were recovered from the killed terrorists.
According to CTD sources, the killed terrorists belonged to a proscribed terror outfit.
After the encounter, the security personnel continued their search operation late into the night for the search of three accomplices who had managed to escape.
Shahbaz Taseer had been kidnapped from Lahore on Aug 26, 2011 near his company’s head office.
Update: One terrorist among the six killed on Saturday was involved in the abduction of Shahbaz Taseer, revealed Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) sources.
Update: Shahbaz Taseer, son of slain Punjab governor Salman Taseer, has rejected the media reports claiming his captor was killed in an encounter with security agencies in Sheikhupura. Taking to social networking website Twitter, Taseer termed the story as ‘false’.
