LAHORE (Staff Report) – A recent case of fake medical practice has come to light, when pictures started making rounds on Facebook, in which a ‘doctor’ and his assistance wearing butcher’s gowns can be seen operating on a patient in a small and shabby room.

Alfalah Hospital, run by Dr Rafiq Ahmad Malik in Jhang district of Punjab offers 24 hour service. As written on the billboard, Malik claims to be a surgeon and physician with an MBBS degree in medicine and surgery.

There are over 600,000 quacks or fake doctors in Pakistan, according to Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC). These sham doctors are working without professional qualifications and licence.
