Two more polio cases reported from Fata, KP

PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – With two more polio cases reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA on Wednesday, the total number of polio cases in 2015 has reached nine.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 14-month-old Habiba from the Sher Jangi area of Peshawar and 13-month-old Shahzad from Jamrud town in Khyber Agency tested positive for the polio virus.
So far this year, five polio cases have been registered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, three in FATA and one from Sindh.
The year 2014 saw 296 confirmed cases which was the highest in the country since 1998.
Pakistan is one of only three countries in the world where polio remains endemic, but efforts have been hindered because of ongoing militancy and attacks on vaccinators.
