BAJAUR AGENCY – On Saturday security forces apprehended two brothers of the suspected facilitator of the Lahore Charing Cross suicide attack in an operation in Tehsil Mamond of Bajaur Agency of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).
The suspected facilitator of the deadly Lahore attack, who has been in police custody for the past few days, has been handed over to the Counter-Terrorism Department on a 30-day remand.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had announced Haq’s arrest in a press conference on Friday evening. The suspect’s confessional statement was also aired during the briefing.
In a video confession, the handler, Anwar ul Haq, admitted his role in the bombing and other relevant details.
“I was associated with Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and they trained me,” said the suspect, adding that he has visited Afghanistan around 15 to 20 times. The suspect said the blast was targeted at the policemen.
He said the suicide bomber hailed from Afghanistan and entered through Torkham Border. “I brought him to Lahore and the truck driver was paid 2 lakh for transporting suicide jacket to Lahore,” he added.
