NAB summons PML candidate Barjees Tahir over graft charges before polls

ISLAMABAD – Embattled Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) received another shock on Wednesday, just a week before the general elections are set to be held, as the anti-graft buster on Wednesday summoned a key leader, Bajees Tahir, over corruption charges, Geo News reported.

Tahir, who is contesting elections from NA-117 constituency, has been directed to appear before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on July 20.

The former federal minister is facing charges of corruption in gas supply in NA-135 (Nankana Sahib-I and Sheikhupura) constituency, a notification issued by the NAB said.

The anti-corruption watchdog is also probing corruption cases against PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, his son Hamza Shehbaz and other family members in Saaf Pani scandal.

The NAB also launched cases against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members. The former premier and his daughter Maryam Nawaz are currently serving their terms in Adiala jail following their conviction in the Avenfield case.
