73 killed in fuel truck explosion in Mozambique

MAPUTO – At least 73 people were killed and more than 100 were injured in siphon fuel truck explosion near the border with Malawi.

According to an official, the truck was transporting fuel to Malawi from the city of Beira.

The tragic incident took place when residents tried to take petrol from the truck in a small village in Tete province.

Because of the heat, the truck burst into flames.

Mozambique is one of the world’s poorest countries, with more than half the 24 million population living below the poverty line.
