KARACHI (Staff Report) – Another patient of Congo virus has died at the Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center Karachi, raising the number of deaths from the deadly disease in the provincial capital to five.
A 22-year-old Allah Ditta was admitted to the hospital about seven days ago, Deputy Director JPMC Dr Javaid Jamali told the media.
“Doctors took the patient’s blood samples and tried very hard to save his life” but were unsuccessful, he said.
According to Sindh Health Department focal person Dr Zafar Mehdi, the patient had high-grade fever and was bleeding from the gums and nose.
Officials said the victim was a cow-seller and had arrived from Bahawalpur at least 25 days ago.
