Copycat? Donald Trump s wife plagiarises parts of Michelle Obama s 2008 speech

WASHINGTON (News Desk) – US Republican presidential nominee Donald J Trump on Monday night proudly introduced his wife Melania Trump at Republican National Convention, who also delivered a wonderful speech on the occasion.

However, the whole development was apparently doomed when it was revealed that some parts of Mrs Trump’s speech were originally taken from a speech made by Michelle Obama at Democrat National Convention in 2008 while her husband Barack Obama was nominated as presidential candidate.

According to the CNN, a side-by-side comparison of the two speeches confirmed that at least one paragraph of Melania Trump speech was plagiarised.

But, Melania Trump still insists that the speech was based on her original ideas. “I read once over it, that’s all, because I wrote it … with little help as possible,” she said while talking to NBC.

Meanwhile, former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau has tweeted: “(To be honest), I was more offended by just about every other speech than Melania’s plagiarized paragraphs”.

Reacting to the plagiarism allegation, the Trump campaign adviser Jason Miller also issued a statement saying “In writing her beautiful speech, Melania’s team of writers took notes on her life’s inspirations, and in some instances included fragments that reflected her own thinking. Melania’s immigrant experience and love for America shone through in her speech, which made it such a success.”

It is also pertinent to be mentioned here that the Monday night’s Republican National Convention was held to formally announce Donald Trump as the party’s candidate for Presidential Election 2016 – polling scheduled on November 8.
